چکیده

Recent researches have become more interested in the feasibility of using Monte Carlo (MC) code to generate multi-group (MG) cross sections (XSs) for fast reactor analysis nodal diffusion codes. The current study, therefore, presents a brief methodology MG XSs generation by in-house UNIST MC MCS, which can be compatibly utilized codes, PARCS and RAST-K. applicability is quantified on sodium (SFR) ABR-1000 design with metallic fuel from OECD/NEA SRF benchmark. few-group generated MCS two-dimensional (2D) assembly geometry are well consistent those SERPENT 2. Furthermore, simulation beginning-of-cycle (BOC) steady-state three-dimensional (3D) whole-core problem RAST-K conducted 24-group MCS. solutions, including core k eff , power profiles various reactivity parameters, compared reference results obtained Overall, code-to-code comparison indicates reasonable agreement between deterministic stochastic difference less than 100 pcm root-mean-square (RMS) error 1.15%. Therefore, it successfully demonstrated that employment codes feasible accurately perform analyses reactors.

Design and Simulation of Photoneutron Source by MCNPX Monte Carlo Code for Boron Neutron Capture Therapy

Introduction Electron linear accelerator (LINAC) can be used for neutron production in Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT). BNCT is an external radiotherapeutic method for the treatment of some cancers. In this study, Varian 2300 C/D LINAC was simulated as an electron accelerator-based photoneutron source to provide a suitable neutron flux for BNCT. Materials and Methods Photoneutron sources w...

Temperature majorant cross sections in Monte Carlo neutron tracking

This article discusses the generation of temperature majorant cross sections, the type of cross sections required by two separate techniques related to Monte Carlo neutron tracking, namely the Doppler-broadening rejection correction (DBRC) and Target Motion Sampling (TMS) temperature treatment methods. In the generation of these cross sections the theoretically infinite range of thermal motion ...

Hybrid Monte Carlo–deterministic Methods for Reactor Analysis

A new variant of a hybrid Monte Carlo–deterministic approach for simulating particle transport problems is presented and compared to the SCALE FW-CADIS approach. The new approach, denoted as the SUBSPACE approach, improves the selection of the importance maps in order to reduce the computational overhead required to achieve global variance reduction—that is, the uniform reduction of variance ev...

A New Assembly-level Monte Carlo Neutron Transport Code for Reactor Physics Calculations

This paper presents a new assembly-level Monte Carlo neutron transport code, specifically intended for diffusion code group-constant generation and other reactor physics calculations. The code is being developed at the Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT), under the working title “Probabilistic Scattering Game”, or PSG. The PSG code uses a method known as Woodcock tracking to simulate neu...
